"In this concert of life, choose your song and don't stop playing it."

There are so many quotes similar to this one that talk about the world being your stage to the world and encouraging you to find your place, sing your song, and never give up.

I love how this quote is made up by 3 sections:

1. In this concert of life

2. Choose your song

3. Don't stop playing

These 3 keys are major contributing factors to whether you will succeed in life. However I believe that we can also carry these 3 keys over to our blog, and if we are able to catch a hold of what this quote is telling us, I honestly believe that we can be as successful as we desire. So let's have a look at each one in a little bit of depth.

In This Concert of Life

What this is trying to tell us, is that in the scope of our life - or in our case blogging, there will always be a crowd of people watching us, just like a concert. Some will be there to cheer you one, others there just waiting for you to make a mistake, and still others who are just checking you out. What we need to realize is the awesome privilege and responsibility that we have of entertaining, educating and inspiring our crowd.

I mean, we may have other bloggers that are part of our crowd who look up to us. Who aspire to be us. They may be hanging on every word we write. What are we doing with this great privilege? Are we taking it as an opportunity to impart knowledge, or are we just taking advantage of them? Just a thought.

Here is a question.

Do you know who your crowd is? Do you know what they like? Do you know why they take the time to visit your blog?

I know my crowd. Cause I planned for them from the start. I know my crowd are fellow bloggers. I know they are keen to learn more about blogging and want to know knew ways to build and grow their blogs. I know that although they they all write on different topics they all share a common interest in wanting to share what they have with others.

I know my crowd because I created my blog especially for this crowd. I created it because they are what I am passionate about. That is getting into the next point so let me just ask you one last time, 'Do You know your crowd?'

Choose Your Song

Think about the tv show Idol for a second. Whether if be American Idol, Australian Idol, Indian Idol or where ever. If you have ever watched the show you will know that there are some fantastic singers that didn't make it through because of bad song choice, and there were some not-so-good singers that were given the chance because they knew how to choose a song that suited their voice. It's the same with blogging.

As a blogger you should know you blogging range, just as a singer can determine what notes he/she can and cannot hit.

A bloggers song is his blog. which is made up of:

* The Blogs Niche

* Bloggers Knowledge and Expertise Levels

* Your Blogging Voice

All three parts are equally important and the blog will only ever be as strong as the weakest of these parts. So lets just have a quick look at each one.

1. The Blogs Niche

It is important for long-term sustainability that the blogs niche be a topic that the author enjoys. There is nothing worse than seeing a singer that does not connect with the song they are singing. It is as equally disappointing seeing bloggers writing about something that is of no interest to them - you can tell from a mile away.

2. Bloggers Knowledge and Expertise Levels

Don't ever let lack of knowledge or expertise ever stop you from believing that you can blog successfully. I have seen it time and again, bloggers that started blogging on a topic that interesting yet quite new to them, and they have seen phenomenal growth.Readers don't want experts. If they did they would be looking in journal magazines. The majority of readers just want learn that bit more than they already know, with a side plate of entertainment. All I will say is let your readers know your limits. If you are just beginning in internet marketing and you have an internet marketing blog, let them know, but also invite them along on your journey through the world of internet marketing. Put a positive spin on your lack of knowledge.

3. Your Blogging Voice

This is what separates you from every other blogger. Just as everyone has a different voice naturally, we all have a different blogging voice. Your voice is the way you talk. The way you structure your posts. Are they conversational or one sided? Are they long and detailed or short and to the point? Your voice is humor - or lack of it. Don't copy someone else's, don't be jealous of other bloggers voices. Instead focus on developing yours, because that is something that no one can ever take away from you, and it is what separates you from the millions of other bloggers out there.

Find a nice balance of these three points and select a song that not only can you sing, but one that will make people drop what they are doing just to listen to what you have to say.

Don't Stop Playing

Now that you have realized you have a crowd and picked a song that suits your style perfectly - which obviously the crowd love because you thought of them right?. Well now you have all of that, why would you ever want to stop?

You are in the spotlight and it's time to shine. This is your moment where the world is watching, will you take a hold of the opportunity and run with it or will you hide behind the curtain with stage fright?

Don't stop playing. Don't ever give up!
